RIP

The legendary and talented Ekaterina Maximova passed today, the world is a bit dimmer indeed.

With her legendary partner and husband Vladimir Vasiliev. Not the best of video quality, but it makes me smile to see them when they were young in one of my favorite ballets.

I just got an e-mail from my friend Simonetta telling me of Maximova's passing. She had been speaking with Vasiliev when he was here in Rome last month and everything was going well. So sudden, so unexpected. Is it just me or are the lights going out too frequently lately?

Ekaterina Maximova. I am so impressed you could spell that without stumbling. Of course, it's the internet with editing possibilities, so maybe you did but you cleaned her up nicely.

I think it'd be nice if ballet had a popular revival. Maybe if loads and loads of people see this clip ...

Why am I not at all surprised this is one of your favorites?

Stopping by late for this entry, though I wanted to wish you a happy Mothers Day. It's just one of many roles, as similar and divergent as the rest, that round out the incredible woman you are.

You children have been blessed with something rare. Be proud.

Stopping by WAAAYYY to late to even see the video. sigh. I've been MIA for the past month or so for various reasons, but I'm trying to reenter the world. Anyway, thinking of you and hoping you're hanging in there. One foot in front of the other, right? Or one toe shoe, as the case may be!
