Ya think??

All together now boys and girls.... Well DUH!!

Lead paint is toxic when ingested by children and can cause brain damage or death. It's been mostly banned in the United States since the late 1970s, but is permitted in the coating of toys, providing it amounts to less than six parts per million.

Consumer advocates say the Bush administration has hindered regulation on two fronts. It stalled efforts to press for greater inspections of imported children's products, and it altered the focus of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), moving it from aggressive protection of consumers to a more manufacturer-friendly approach.

"The overall philosophy is regulations are bad and they are too large a cost for industry, and the market will take care of it," said Rick Melberth, director of regulatory policy at OMBWatch, a government watchdog group formed in 1983. "That's been the philosophy of the Bush administration."

Really now, not killing children could be bad for business folks!

I wonder if refusing to import products from China will resolve much of the problem and require really no regulation. :)

I would think that the Bush administration would be particularly interested in preventing lead poisoning in children, as its obvious to everyone that little Georgie ingested far too much of the brain damaging material as a child. I would have thought this to be a personal issue championed by him and his family. I guess compassion for others ranks right up there with the reproductive rights of women, in this fascist regime.

While it's been said that I actually look rather fetching in an Asshat, I have to agree with you completely. When are folks going to realize that China is a great big albatross around our necks?

Economically speaking, mind you. Peace.

moving it from aggressive protection of consumers to a more manufacturer-friendly approach . . . of course. and it's probably headed by some disgraced, banned, anti-government child eating CEO of a company that went bankrupt, consuming all of its employees' pension plans.

i hate these people.

My outrage at this administration is turning into a long, drawn out steady hum of disapproval. I cannot keep up the rage with any intensity for too long or else I might explode.
